📚 National Reading Day – 19 June 2025 📖

"Make today the day to read something new!"

SIHM-K Library and Resource Centre proudly celebrates National Reading Day on 19 June 2025 in honor of P.N. Panicker, the father of the Library Movement in Kerala. This day reminds us of the power of reading in transforming lives and shaping minds.

🗓 Why We Celebrate Reading Day?

National Reading Day marks the death anniversary of Puthuvayil Narayana Panicker (1910–1995), whose tireless efforts led to the establishment of libraries across Kerala and ignited the reading revolution. His motto was: “Read and Grow.”

📌 Objectives of Reading Day:

  • Promote the habit of reading among students and the public.
  • Encourage the use of libraries as centers for knowledge.
  • Inspire everyone to explore new books and ideas.

📚 Reading Suggestions:

  • Fiction: Try a new author or a different language.
  • Non-fiction: Learn something new about hospitality, science, or life skills.

🖋 Let’s Make Reading a Daily Habit!

Reading not only improves vocabulary and language skills but also helps reduce stress and builds empathy. Let’s take a step today to build a culture of reading in our institute and beyond.
